Zion National Park is located in the Southern Utah, near Springdale, Utah. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to half a mile (800 m) deep, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest elevation is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest elevation is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain.
Zion National Park is a must see at some point in your life. I would recommend at least 3 days minimum to check out all it has to offer. There are trails from simple to very strenuous. During my stay which only lasted 2 days I did the Angels Landing (strenuous) and the Watchman Trail (simple but very beautiful). I felt like there was much more to see but definitely satisfied for the amount of time I was in Zion.
There are several online references to better prepare yourself for you visit to Zion National Park. There are map and guides and plenty of information on other blogs and tons of videos on Zion.
There is camping as well as plenty of hotels in Zion that are very nice. I stayed at the Best Western Zion which was nice and quiet for the price. I was rather surprised by the quality of this hotel. Next store are 2 restuarants/sports bar with in a short walking distance. There is Jacks Sports Bar and Switchback Grille right next to each other. The food here is decent at Jacks but the buffet at Switchback is good with an amazing view.
Overall Zion National Park is must trip solo or with the family or group. Next time I am going to camp and hike in to the backcountry and truly experience the area. Be prepared for crowds. Getting around is really easy and once there you can leave your car and take the public system which runs every 15 minutes and takes through the whole city of Springdale to the opening of Zion.
