Since I do not have the time nor patience to sprout my own chickpeas, I purchased them at the Leucadia and Encinitas Famers Market and Art Fair and used them in this recipe. Otherwise see The Daily Raw Cafe on how to sprout your chickpeas. Anyways making your own raw hummus is quite simple and taste insane. Of course I like to make mine really spicy, if that is not for you just omit the serrano chiles.
- I cup sprouted chickpeas
- 1 tbsp of cumin
- 1/2 cup distilled water
- bunch of organic cilantro
- 2 decent size serrano chiles
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp of tahini
- 1/2 to full lime
- 1 tbsp of Olive Oil
- cayenne pepper
Place all the ingredients into you food processor, vita mixer or what ever you use. Blend until you get the consistency you like and serve.
I just bought these new chips called Brads Raw Chips which were very darn good. I tried the Indian and Sundried tomato flavor. I used these to dip into the raw hummus, great snack. If you can incorporate a little more raw food into your diet you will be on a great path. Stay tuned as I am always finding great raw food products and will post them as I sample them.
